At a time of serious social crisis, in the middle of the Spanish Civil War, in obvious danger of death, Saint Josemaria, accompanied by a handful of young people, set out on a difficult journey through the Pyrenees so he could carry out his priestly work on the other side of the Spanish battle lines. This documentary visits the places from those days, guided by the memories of those who took part.

DVD: The Life of Saint Josemaria |
|
|
Three biographical documentaries and a selection of footage of his preaching.

In the last years of Saint Josemaria’s life, some of his preaching (“catechesis”, as he liked to say) was captured on film. He held get-togethers with people from all walks of life, in several countries, in which he talked exclusively of God, responding to questions from the audience. His tone was uncomplicated and informal, and he always tried to create a friendly atmosphere of a family get-together.
These recordings follow the path of his life in the first two documentaries: “A Present from God” (47 minutes) and “The Happiness of Saintliness” (19 minutes).
In “Saint Josemaria, Instrument of God” (5 minutes), photos and footage of the period are reviewed in relation to several autobiographical points. In “Preaching” (14 minutes) several examples of his catechesis are included, with the titles “Freedom of the Children”, “Poverty and Solidarity”, “Understanding Everyone”, “Pain is God’s Blessing”, “The Time to Love is Short”, “Talking to God” and “God Forgives through Confession”.
A wide knowledge of “The Life of Saint Josemaria” can be obtained through this collection. |
